CompTIA ChannelCon 2019 Conference: Live Blog

CompTIA ChannelCon, the association's annual gathering of IT solutions providers, MSPs and channel partners, runs August 5-7 in Las Vegas.

7. MSP Marketing Tools: Data protection provider Axcient has unveiled the Axcient Marketing Portal (AMP) to help MSPs build and scale their marketing programs.

6. Security Operations Center: inSOC will demonstration One Stop SOC, a turnkey security operations center (SOC) solution for MSPs and MSSPs. at the conference. inSOC's MSP-focused effort surfaced at DattoCon19 in June.

5. Managed Video Conferencing Services: VisibilityOne is launching a Threshold Alert Control feature -- which enables users to set Quality of Service (QoS) alert thresholds for variables like frame rate, jitter, packet loss, and bit rate. This functionality is available for Cisco, Poly and Zoom video conferencing platforms.

4. CompTIA Board of Directors: Gordon Pelosse, head of global support delivery for HP Enterprise in the Central United States and Canada, becomes chairman of CompTIA’s board. Additional leadership announcements surfaced here.

3. Member of the Year: CompTIA has named Angel L. Piñeiro Jr., senior VP for technology services at Agilant Solutions, as the organization's member of the year. Piñeiro is a 20-plus year member, champion and volunteer for CompTIA, the organization says. In that time he has been engaged in virtually every aspect of the association; from its professional certification program and member communities to public advocacy and philanthropy, CompTIA adds.

2. M&A - Online Training: CompTIA ahead of the conference acquired Metacog, an artificial intelligence startup focused on real-world assessment, certification, evaluation and training products. Armed with the acquisition, CompTIA plans to launch an online testing platform that “will create a best-in-class option for Internet-based and remotely proctored high stakes exams and tests,” the technology association asserts.

1. CompTIA Evolution: In addition to serving IT channel partners, CompTIA has moved aggressively toward training and education initiatives for all types of IT professionals. Moreover, the organization has industry advisory councils that now span business applications, channel, blockchain, drone and smart city initiatives.
