Ingram Micro to Acquire Colombia’s Canal Digital

Ingram Micro has announced a definitive agreement to acquire Canal Digital, a value-added technology distributor based in Colombia. Financial details of the acquisition were not disclosed.

The acquisition is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2021, subject to customary regulatory approvals, according to a statement from the company.

The acquisition will accelerate Ingram Micro’s growth plan in Latin America, build on its capabilities and expand its expertise, partner reach and market share in Colombia, according to a statement released by the technology distributor. Under the leadership of Juan Mejía, managing director, Ingram Micro Colombia, Ingram Micro’s organic revenue has more than doubled in the last two years, according to the company.

Canal Digital was founded in 1999 and is headquartered in Bógota, Colombia. This acquisition will combine Canal Digital’s strengths with Ingram Micro’s financial solutions, marketing, sales and technical resources, as well as its growing portfolio of Advanced Solutions and services, according to the statement.

Canal Digital engages with more than 1,000 channel partners, according to the statement. The distributor has relationships with vendors including HP Inc. and Hewlett Packard Enterprise, as well as growing relationships with Aruba Networks and Dell-EMC.

Canal Digital’s leadership team, along with its employees, are slated to join Ingram Micro, according to the statement.
