VIPRE Security continues to push deeper into the MSP-centric security market. The software company's latest move involves VIPRE Site Manager -- a multi-tenant environment that allows MSPs to manage customers' endpoint security.

In a blog post describing VIPRE Site Manager, Senior Director of Channel Marketing Marya Munir says the dashboard leverage advanced analytics to automate much of the service delivery process for MSPs.

Additional features of VIPRE Site Manager include:

  • Automated processes.
  • Client-level reporting.
  • Monthly utility billing.
  • Threat report summaries for client consumption.

In addition, VIPRE Site Manager leverages advanced threat intelligence with machine learning to automatically identify malware and other cyber threats, the company indicated. VIPRE Site Manager also provides notifications to help MSPs determine if a threat is isolated or part of a larger outbreak.

VIPRE Security's MSP Initiatives

This is the latest piece in VIPRE's growing security platform for MSPs.

The company in 2017 launched VIPRE Endpoint Security – Cloud Edition, which was purpose-built atop Amazon Web Services (AWS) and designed for SMB channel partners.

In a podcast, Chief Product Officer Usman Choudhary described the platform's blend of power and simplicity for partners.

VIPRE currently providers security products across a variety of areas, including:

  • Email and Network: Defend against phishing, spam, viruses and other email and network attacks.
  • Endpoint: Protect endpoints and servers against both known and unknown cyber threats.
  • Threat Intelligence: Identify cyberattacks and help end users determine the best ways to protect themselves against evolving threats.

Building a Security Platform

During ChannelE2E briefings at ConnectWise Automation Nation 2018 and RSA Conference 2018, VIPRE previewed additional functions that will surface in the Site Manager Dashboard. The key takeaway: VIPRE's dashboard will increasingly reflect the company's transformation into a complete MSP security platform provider.

With that goal in mind, the company has recruited MSP-savvy talent to the VIPRE team. Munir, for instance, is a Webroot veteran. Additional names to know include ConnectWise veteran Jason Norton, now a VIPRE product marketing director.

Competitive Landscape

From Cisco Umbrella (formerly OpenDNS) to Sophos and Webroot, a handful of security companies have spent recent years working closely with MSP platform providers like ConnectWise, Continuum, Datto, Kaseya and SolarWinds MSP.

Now, VIPRE is getting cozy in the MSP software and partner ecosystem as well. For instance, MSPs can manage VIPRE Endpoint Cloud and Server with ConnectWise Automate remote monitoring and management (RMM) software.

And VIPRE isn't resting on its laurels. j2 Global acquired VIPRE in February 2018, setting the stage for potential synergies with J2 portfolio companies like FuseMail and Excel Micro. We'll be watching for more updates.
