Barracuda Networks has named Brian Babineau to lead the company’s Intronis MSP Solutions business. Babineau succeeds Rick Faulk, who has jumped to the robotics industry.

Babineau is very familiar with the Intronis business. In fact, he led the integration team when Barracuda acquired Intronis in September 2015, working closely with Channel Chief Neal Bradbury to maintain a keen focus on MSP support throughout the M&A process.

Intronis MSP Solutions by Barracuda has been a growth business since the M&A deal. Barracuda CEO BJ Jenkins says the Intronis business should grow about 25 percent in 2016, and the business has been meeting Barracuda’s overall objectives.

Intronis Storage and Security Services

But what’s next for Intronis and its MSP partner base? Babineau offers clues in a recent blog post.

“Our MSP strategy remains the same, and we must continue our focus,” he wrote. “We will still expand products, integrate ECHOplatform with Barracuda’s central management solutions and grow internationally.”

Indeed, during recent earnings calls CEO Jenkins has told Wall Street that Barracuda will replicate the MSP go-to-market model from the storage/data protection market into the security market. It sounds like the security offerings will involve subscription services promoted by MSPs into the SMB market.

In a blog post, Jenkins pointed to three recent milestones on the journey:

Amid that progress, Intronis still faces plenty of competition from a range of BDR (backup and disaster recovery) and security vendors that successfully target the MSP sector.
