Liongard, a provider of MSP automation software, has named ConnectWise veteran Adam Slutskin as chief revenue officer (CRO), ChannelE2E has confirmed.

Slutskin is perhaps best-known for his previous role as CRO at ConnectWise, where he helped the  company to push beyond PSA (professional services automation) into multiple IT automation markets. He has also held key sales and management roles at CA Technologies, eFolder (now Axcient) and Kaseya.

Liongard is a privately held, fast-growing startup, signing up roughy 100 MSPs over the past three months, raising the company's total installed base to roughly 150 MSPs, CEO Joe Alapat estimates.

Slutskin will oversee revenue, marketing, sales and account management, Alapat tells ChannelE2E. "He comes with a wealth of experience in the MSP space, so we’re looking forward to having him supercharge our organization," Alapat says.

Liongard Roar: MSP Automation Software Explained

The company's flagship product, Roar, essentially allows MSPs to automate at least four key tasks, the company says:

  1. Discover: The system gathers configuration data from cloud, network, and on-premise systems into an MSP dashboard. The MSP gains visibility across all customer environments.
  2. Document: Instead of manually pumping information into a documentation system, Roar automates the process with up-to-date information that's stored chronologically for review.
  3. Detect: Roar notifies MSPs about critical change alerts when configuration controls drift due to changes by MSP staff, customers, or potential intruders
  4. Assess: Drive revenue through actionable and detailed prescriptive actions, based on vendor best practices, that help to secure customer environments, Liongard asserts.

Without Roar in place, MSPs typically update system configuration details manually — a tedious, time consuming and potentially expensive, CEO Joe Alapat has previously told ChannelE2E.

Liongard Roar typically complements existing MSP platforms rather than competing with the likes of IT Glue and Passportal — both of which offer documentation platforms. Key Roar integrations include ConnectWise Manage and IT Glue, with Datto PSA (Autotask) and ServiceNow connections under development. It sounds like a Kaseya integration also is coming.

Why Slutskin joined Liongard

The company's growth, energy and market opportunity reminds Slutskin of LabTech Software during that company's early days in the 2010 timeframe. Back then, LabTech was a fledgling RMM (remote monitoring and management) software platform for MSPs. ConnectWise invested in the platform and ultimately reorganized and grew the business as ConnectWise Automate.

Liongard's team includes MSP veterans, a key factor in Slutskin's decision to join the company. "The culture and the technology are A-plus," he asserts. "There's zero drama. Everyone here has been in the MSP community, and that's so important when you're building an MSP-centric software business."

Slutskin compares that MSP-centric focus to his days at ConnectWise, where he says he was fortunate to have mentors such as CEO Arnie Bellini, co-founder David Bellini, and former president Matt Nachtrab.

Near term, Slutkin's key goals are getting acclimated with the team and product roadmap. Liongard also plans to attend the major MSP ecosystem conferences throughout 2019, he adds.

Among the company's key goals for 2019, Alapat adds: Expanding to support more PSA and MSP platforms. Also, the CEO says: "We plan to keep improving our quality of service by providing an amazing customer experience, simplifying onboarding and continuing to release enhanced features, such as more system integrations throughout the year."
