Kaseya Preps PSA Migrator Tool for MSPs
Kaseya is developing a PSA migration tool — aptly called PSA Migrator. The tool, discussed at a European conference this week, will assist MSPs that want to switch from Autotask, ConnectWise and other PSA (professional services automation) platforms to Kaseya Business Management Solution (BMS).
Kaseya CEO Fred Voccola confirmed PSA Migrator’s development in a call with ChannelE2E today. Nine times out of 10, a PSA migration to Kaseya BMS is straightforward, he says. But the PSA Migrator tool, which will be free to MSPs, will further automate the process, Voccola says.
“For 90 percent of the customers, we can get you migrated in a week,” he asserts. And once the migration is completed, an MSP’s ongoing PSA costs will drop roughly 70 to 80 percent, he adds.
Kaseya maintains that PSA is a non-revenue producing platform for MSPs. I’ll debate portions of that point, since PSA makes MSPs far more efficient. That efficiency accelerates project deliveries and consultant utilization rates — and therefore lifts revenues. But I see Voccola’s point that other types of tools are better at actually generating recurring revenues for MSPs.
Kaseya has been in the PSA market for nearly a year now. Some MSPs are certainly running the BMS platform. But both Autotask and ConnectWise expressed strong growth momentum during their respective partner and customer conferences in September and November. The overall messaging from both Autotask and ConnectWise has involved unified platforms — the idea that PSA, RMM and other capabilities are coming together to manage and automate end-to-end business processes.
As part of that march toward unified platforms, Kaseya is definitely selling PSA at a market discount. And now a PSA Migrator tool is on the way.
