5 Channel Partner Updates: Tuesday 12 June 2018

Good morning, channel partners. Here are five technology news updates, insights, chatter, and plenty more to start your day for Tuesday, June 12, 2018.

Actually, there are 18 timely updates designed for VARs, managed services providers (MSPs), cloud services providers (CSPs), independent software vendors (ISVs), telco master agents and telco agents to sip on. Take a look:

18. Net Neutrality Next Moves: The U.S. open Internet rules expired on Monday, handing sweeping new powers to Internet providers to block, throttle or offer paid "fast lanes" for web traffic, but a court battle remains ahead, Reuters notes.

17. IT Outages: Polish public agencies faced major IT system outages on Tuesday morning. As of press time the Polish government did not know the cause of the outage or the time required to correct it.

16. Big Data Cloud Services: AtScale has launched AtScale Cloud. The platform "simplifies the process of provisioning an end-to-end analytics environment on one cloud, multiple clouds or in hybrid mode (on-premises plus multi-clouds), the company claims. It's available now on Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud Platform and Microsoft Azure.

15. CenturyLink-Google Cloud Connection: CenturyLink now supports Google Cloud Partner Interconnect, a service from Google Cloud that allows customers to connect to Google Cloud Platform from anywhere, the companies assert.

14. Application Upgrades: Sage Intacct, the cloud financial management software provider, has announced the general availability of new product updates, certification, and agreements that focus on privacy compliance for HIPAA and GDPR. These updates are now generally available as part of Sage Intacct 2018 Release 2, the company says. Also, the upgrades address specific business needs across healthcare, nonprofit, and financial services for mid-market and enterprise customers, Sage assert.

13. Talent: Broadvoice has hired Spectrum/Time Warner Cable veteran Vinit (“Vinnie”) Ahooja as vice president of operations, with a focus on scaling and optimizing the company’s customer success initiatives as it accelerates growth nationwide.

12. Docker - Application Monitoring: Scalyr, a log management platform provider, says customers such as DataFox, EatStreet, Foxpass, ObservePoint, Periscope Data, and Return Path use Scalyr to monitor their software and Docker environments.

11. Docker & Container Management: Sumo Logic has introduced new platform capabilities for monitoring Kubernetes and Docker, converting logs to metrics, and contextualizing metadata, the company says.

10. Cloud Services & Military ApplicationsThales and Microsoft today announce a preferred partnership for the development of a common Defense Cloud solution for armed forces. The jointly developed solution will be based on the Microsoft Azure Stack platform, the companies said.

9. Remote Monitoring and Management: Lantronix Inc. has unveiled ConsoleFlow, a centralized IT infrastructure management and monitoring software optimized for out-of-band management. It's expected to ship in Q3 2018. Traditional IT infrastructure management software solutions typically stops working when networks fail, Lantronix notes. In stark contrast, Lantronix ConsoleFlow enables IT administrators and network engineers to remotely monitor, manage and fix their IT equipment over broadband and cellular networks from anywhere, anytime, the company claims.

8. Colocation Services: Rackspace has launched colocation services that allow customers to deploy their own hardware in Rackspace data centers. The services feature resilient critical infrastructure, network and on-ground support services, along with disaster recovery capabilities, Rackspace says. Moreover, the services can reduce application latency and helping IT meet stringent security and compliance requirements, Rackspace asserts. The effort reflects the fact that customers continue to embrace a range of IT outsourcing options beyond public cloud services.

7. M&A - Cloud Management: Plesk has acquired a VPS (virtual private server) and IaaS (infrastructure-as-a-service) management system called SolusVM from OnApp. The system is designed for resellers, Web professionals and cloud services providers.

6. M&A - Oracle ERP PartnerVersion 1 has acquired Cedar Consulting Ltd., an Oracle ERP channel partner focused on HR transformations. This is Version 1's sixth acquisition of a UK-based IT solutions provider. We'll share more details soon.

5. M&A - Cyber Consultancy: Cyberfort Group has acquired Agenci, a UK-based consultancy that specializes in IT security and compliance regulations such as ISO 27001 and GDPR. We'll share more details soon.

4. M&A - MSPs: Datapath (Modesto, California), has acquired Fresno’s Valley Network Solutions, doubling Datapath’s size and creating the largest IT provider in the Central Valley, the companies claims. We'll share more details soon.

3. M&A - IT Consulting Services: The Planet Group, a provider of outsourced human capital and consulting solutions, is acquiring R121, an international IT consulting firm. We'll share more details soon.

2. M&A - ESOPs: Ingage, a software solutions provider in Cincinnati, now has an ESOP (employee stock ownership plan) business model. We'll share more details soon.

1. Owners Want Exits: A whopping 32 percent of current small business owners plan to sell their companies within the next two years, according to a BizBuySell survey. Admittedly, the survey results may be a bit biased toward M&A activity since BizBuySell's readership focuses on small business ownership transactions.
