5 Channel Partner Updates: Friday 20 July 2018

Good morning, channel partners. Here are five technology news updates, insights, chatter, and plenty more to start your day for Friday, July 20, 2018.

Actually, there are 11 timely updates designed for VARs, managed services providers (MSPs), cloud services providers (CSPs), independent software vendors (ISVs), telco master agents and telco agents to sip on. Take a look:

11. Funding – Field Service Management: Service Fusion, a field service management software provider for SMB customers, has raised $10 million in Series A funding from Five Elms Capital.

10. Office 365 CRM Bundle: Nimble CRM for Office 365 appears to be gaining channel partner momentum. Key partners now include Tech Data, AppXite/ATEA, EMIT Solutions, QBS, Logicom, TechQuarter, and Vuzion/Cobweb, the company says.

9. SD-WAN Monitoring: LiveAction on August 1 will ship LiveNX Server Appliance, a dedicated hardware appliance for the LiveNX network management platform. The appliance is designed to ease SD-WAN monitoring and management.

8. SD-WANs: Windstream Enterprise has launched SD-WAN Cloud Connect, a flexible, which allows enterprises to connect all their network locations to their cloud-based applications. The service leverages VeloCloud, now part of VMware.

7. Business Continuity – Veeam Momentum:  Veeam’s total bookings grew 20 percent in Q2 2018 vs. Q2 2017, and kept pace with its average of more than 4,000 new customers each month, the business continuity software company says. We’ll share more details soon.

6. Microsoft Momentum: Microsoft Azure cloud services revenue rose 89 percent in Q4 ended June 30, reinforcing continued momentum for the software giant’s public cloud platform. The news comes as Amazon wraps an AWS conference in New York and Google prepares to kick off a Cloud Next conference in California.

5. IT Services Momentum; India’s Wipro beat first-quarter profit expectations on Friday buoyed by higher Banking, Financial Services and Insurance (BFSI) revenue, Reuters notes. Net profit for the three months to June 30 rose about 2 percent to 21.21 billion rupees ($307.55 million) at India’s third-largest software services exporter said in a statement, Reuters adds.

4. M&A – Coding School: Galvanize is acquiring Hack Reactor, uniting two of the largest privately held coding boot camps. We’ll share more details soon.

3. M&A – Data Centers: H5 Data Centers, a national colocation and wholesale data center provider, has acquired Intuit Inc.’s data center in Quincy, Washington. The acquisition expands H5 Data Centers’ national portfolio to 12 data centers and compliments its 300,000 square-foot data center in downtown Seattle. Quincy, the companies said.

2. Small Business Retirement Plans: U.S. lawmakers are working on the biggest changes to U.S. retirement savings in more than a decade, exploring several proposals that could make it easier for small companies to offer 401(k) plans and for workers to guarantee themselves an annual income after they retire, The Wall Street Journal reports. Keep an eye on a bill known as the Retirement Enhancement and Savings Act, or RESA. Some financial services companies and AARP are pushing lawmakers to work the bill into law.

1. MSPs Embrace Google Cloud Platform: Watch for numerous MSPs to align with Google Cloud Platform during the search giant’s Google Cloud Next 2018 conference next week in San Francisco. Admittedly, some of the MSPs are already aligned with Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft Azure, but the Google team deserves credit for pulling MSPs into its camp as well.
