5 Channel Partner Updates: 2 December 2016

Good morning, channel partners. Here are five technology news updates, insights, chatter, and plenty more to start your day for Friday, December 2, 2016.

Actually, there are 10 entries for VARs, managed services providers (MSPs), cloud services providers (CSPs), independent software vendors (ISVs), telco master agents and telco agents to sip on. Take a look…

10. Not a great Workday: Shares in Workday fell about 15 percent yesterday after the SaaS company warned of deal “slippage” among customers worried about global uncertainty, and forecast “billings” growth for the coming year that disappointed, Tech Trader Daily reported. Ironically, Workday also reported a surprise profit — but the “slippage” and “billings” concerns overshadowed that good news.

9. SEC vs. Miami Angel Investor: Apparently, not every angel is an angel. Check references, track records and outcomes incredibly closely when raising money…

8. IT Monitoring Acquisition: Juniper has acquired AppFormix, a cloud optimization specialist… AppFormix CEO Sumeet Singh is a Microsoft Azure networking team veteran. AppFormix’s technology is designed to provide real-time and historic monitoring, visibility, and dynamic performance optimization for public, private, and telco cloud operators in both OpenStack and Kubernetes environments.

7. Container Certification: Mirantis has launched a vendor-agnostic Kubernetes and Docker certification. Mirantis, a major OpenStack backer, has recently diversified into additional markets — perhaps because OpenStack distribution simply isn’t as lucrative as early pundits had predicted…

6. IT Infrastructure Monitoring Forecast: The global IT infrastructure monitoring market will reach $34.1 billion in 2024, up from $19.24 billion in 2015, according to Persistence Market Research. That’s a 6.6 percent compound annual growth rate (CAGR), the researcher said.
