11. M&A - Sage Partners: Net@Work has acquired the Sage HRMS (Abra) practice of Cost Management Services (CMS), a Sage Certified Business Partner, the two companies said. Net@Work is headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia. Abra's customers are in the North Eastern United States. Financial terms were not disclosed.
10. M&A - Networking: Extreme Networks offered this update on its recent Avaya Networking & Brocade Data Center Networking acquisitions. The big question: Can Extreme snap all the puzzle pieces together to create a greater whole? Hmmm...
9. M&A - Telecom Solutions: Glamorgan Telecom, has been acquired in a management buyout as it looks to drive further expansion, Wales Online reported. The deal for the Cardiff-based business, which has more than 1,800 customers in south Wales and the south west of England, provides an exit for founding director Neal Pughe, the report said.
9. M&A - RapidScale & Vonage: RapidScale has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire the hosted infrastructure services portion of Vonage’s business. Under the terms of the agreement, RapidScale will acquire the employees of this Vonage business unit and the following services: Infrastructure as a Service, Hosted Exchange, Virtual Desktop, IT Services, Hosted Firewall, Backup Service and Microsoft Skype for Business. Financial terms weren't disclosed.
8. IT Outsourcing Layoffs: Seven of the biggest IT firms in India, including Infosys, plan to ask at least a total of 56,000 employees to leave this year, Mint reported on Friday. Critics blame IT market shifts along with President Trump's employment policies for the potential layoffs.
7. Ransomware Recovery: Most U.K. health facilities whose computer systems were crippled in a global cyberattack are back to normal operation, Bloomberg reported this morning.
6. But Ransomware Attack Continues: The massive WannaCry/WannaCrypt ransomware attack, which started May 12, continues to spread worldwide. Some Asia companies reported ransomware issues today (Monday) after unsuspecting users booted up machines and clicked on email attachments that contained the malware. These Microsoft Windows patches for current and old versions of the operating system can prevent the malware attacks.
5. Who Launched the Attacks?: One theory suggests a mysterious hacker group called Shadow Brokers is responsible for the ransomware attacks.
