8. IPO – Big Data: Cloudera’s IPO went better than expected, rising about 23 percent during the company’s debut last week. Cloudera’s valuation is still far below its funding round from more than a year ago. But the solid IPO potentially bodes well for big data software companies and rival MapR — which is still privately held.

7. Google Goes to Cuba: Google has activated servers in Cuba, becoming the first foreign company with the ability to provide online content in the country, according to multiple news reports.

6. Big Phishing Trip: Employees from Facebook and Google were tricked into transferring $100m (£77.3m) in payments to a hacker’s bank account overseas as part of a sophisticated email phishing scheme, International Business Times reported.

5. Change Management: Orca and Cherwell have partnered on a software integration that slashes code and configuration change response times by 50% or more, the companies claim.

4. Secure File Sharing: Earthling Security has launched Earthling ShareVault, a secure document sharing and collaboration platform. Users can deploy the system on Amazon Web Services or Microsoft Azure. Earthlink appears to be positioning itself as a secure, compliant-centric alternative to Box and Dropbox.

3. M&A – Apps & Outsourcing: App Solutions, a software development company, has acquired Grossum, a Kyiv-based IT outsourcing company. App Solutions’ strategic goal is to growing into a Top 10 IT outsourcing company in Ukraine.
