- Who’s afraid of Chat GPT?: While managed service provider companies are investigating use cases for OpenAI’s Chat GPT generative AI technology, there’s a faction of technologists who are calling for a moratorium on development of such tools for six months to give the industry time to set safety standards to avoid potential harms. They include Tesla CEO Elon Musk and AI pioneer Youshua Bengio and Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak.
- Not Bill Gates: On the other side of the house, Bill Gates last week declared that The Age of AI has begun in a lengthy and now viral LinkedIn post. Gates said that in his lifetime he’d seen two technology demonstrations that struck him as revolutionary. The first was the graphical user interface in 1980. The second was OpenAI’s Chat GPT work. He’s bullish on what AI can do and talks about many use cases in his post.
- Microsoft leverages generative AI for cybersecurity: Now the company Bill Gates founded is offering a proprietary chatbot based on GPT4 called Security Copilot, designed to give defenders the ability to correlate attack data, prioritize security incidents and provide remediation advice. It integrates with Microsoft’s existing security portfolio, including Sentinel and Defender.
- Knowing the right questions to ask: Of course getting the output you want from Chat GPT often comes down to asking the generative AI the right questions and phrasing the questions in just the right way. Apparently, it’s a skill in high demand with Bloomberg reporting that “prompt engineer” or “AI whisperer” jobs are listed as paying as much as $335,000 a year. That points to an interesting potential market -- prompt engineer-as-a-service.
- Here's one use case: Consulting firm EY today announced a deepened strategic collaboration with Microsoft to develop the EY Intelligent Payroll Chatbot as part of its next gen payroll platform. The chatbot leverages the Microsoft Cloud and Azure OpenAI service, enhanced by EY payroll offerings intelligence. EY says the chatbot is expected to enhance employee satisfaction and first contact resolution KPIs by more than 50%.
