Today’s Technology and MSP Partner Program News

  1. Security Impacts Software Choices: Half of US businesses say that security is the most influential factor when they buy software, and 45% say they have stopped using a specific type of software due to security concerns. That’s according to the new Security Features Survey from Capterra, the Gartner-owned free online marketplace that serves as an intermediary between buyers and sellers in the software industry. Three-quarters cite data backups as a dealbreaker when buying software. The second most important security feature is the ability to receive security notifications (72%).
  2. Cybersecurity 911 for MSPs: CompTIA is creating a new Cybersecurity Emergency response team to help MSPs dealing with a cybersecurity incident. The team will be led by a group of CompTIA members and staffed by MSP volunteers who will provide guidance to peers facing a disruption of system availability, data integrity, or confidentiality. A dedicated 800 number is coming soon, and prospective volunteers can fill out a volunteer interest form.
  3. Partner Program Launch: TrueFort has launched the TrueFort Trust Global Channel Partner Program, creating a security partner ecosystem for IT solution providers, systems integrators, consultants, MSPs/MSSPs, and ISVs to deliver custom workload, lateral attack, and microsegmentation security solutions.
  4. New Boss at Backup Company: MSP cloud backup company Redstor has promoted James Griffin to CEO from chief product officer. Griffin will succeed CEO and co-founder Paul Evans who will move into a board and advisory role. Before Redstor, Griffin served as chief cloud evangelist and senior director of strategy and programs for IRIS Software.
  5. Samsung New Data Center: Samsung SDS, the IT services subsidiary of Samsung, has built a new data center in South Korea to support its enterprise cloud market business. The company offers the Samsung Cloud Platform, a managed service provider service, and enterprise SaaS service.
