Sayres Defense Acquires Global Systems Technologies

Sayres Defense has acquired Global Systems Technologies (GST), expanding its capabilities in defense mission support for the U.S. Navy, Department of Defense, and National Security community. Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.

Sayres Defense, founded in 2001, is based in Washington, DC. The company has 279 employees listed on LinkedIn. Sayres’ areas of expertise include acquisition, financial and program management; fleet synthetic training; Integrated Logistics Support; ship construction engineering; systems engineering and integration; wargaming; test and evaluation; and security, counterintelligence, and policy analysis.

Global Systems Technologies, founded in 1987, is based in Yardley, Pennsylvania. The company has 54 employees listed on LinkedIn. GST’s areas of expertise include information technology/software development, transportation security, logistics & configuration management, test & evaluation, baggage & passenger screening technologies, and engineering services.

Acquisition Strategy and Leadership

GST becomes the third entity under Broadtree Partners' Government Contracting (GovCon) platform, joining forces with Sayres Defense and Joint Research and Development (JRAD). 

The integration aims to enhance the operational and financial leadership across ach of these organizations, providing unified, mission-focused support, according to the company. 

Tim Reardon, who served as a senior executive at Lockheed Martin and Leidos, and currently as the CEO of Sayres Defense and JRAD, will head the combined entities, the company said.

Broadtree Partners' Involvement

Broadtree Partners, a private equity firm located in Charlotte, North Carolina, focuses on investments in the aerospace, defense, intelligence, and federal civilian government services sectors. 

With this acquisition, Broadtree continues to expand its footprint in the government contracting space, marking its fourth significant platform investment. 

The firm’s strategy centers on partnering with executives to drive value and growth while maintaining the core values and legacy of their acquisitions.

Holland and Knight acted as legal counsel to Broadtree Partners, Sayres Defense, and JRAD for this transaction. Meanwhile, G Squared Capital Partners provided financial advisory services, and Miles and Stockbridge acted as legal counsel for GST.
